Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $77550.00$87550.00

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages communitybased supports and foster care services and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

The Division of Youth and Family Justice (DYFJ) provides a wide range of services and programs for youth at every stage of the juvenile justice process. Our goals are to (a) build stronger and safer communities and advance public safety by preventing juveniles from entering the New York Citys juvenile justice system (b) provide therapeutic treatment and services to youth in our custodial care and (c) help juveniles access the tools they need to leave the justice system for good. We strive to help families and young people by providing supportive services that are responsive to the needs of individual youth and families.

Specific duties will include:

Partner with the PREA Executive Director and Executive Director of detention facilities to ensure compliance with the Prison Elimination Act standards

Lead and support the implementation of the Federal Prison Elimination Act Standards (PREA) in Secure and Close to Home facilities by:

1 Oversee the process and implementation of the standards and ensure the quality and consistency of incidents reported
2 Work closely with the facility Executive Director and other leadership to analyze results of internal mock PREA audits.
3 Work with DYFJ leadership to develop and implement facility improvement plans

Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with ACS/DOC investigation Unit as well as the Department of Investigation to ensure ongoing communication regarding sexual prevention reporting response investigation and retaliation monitoring

Provide training to staff pursuant to the ACS/DYFJ PREA policy and standards

Lead Sexual Abuse Incident Review meetings at the end of investigations

Assist the PREA Executive Director with response to inquiries audits and investigations by City State and Federal oversight bodies

Manage projects and undertake other duties as assigned by the PREA Executive Director

Special Note: Candidate will be required to travel within the five boroughs and to the detention centers as needed

Qualifications :

1. A masters degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and four years of fulltime paid professional experience in a child care institution or in group work with children in a child care setting including two years in an administrative capacity; or

2. A masters degree from an accredited college in sociology psychology education public administration or a closely related field and five years of fulltime paid professional experience as described in 1 above including two years in an administrative capacity; or

3. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have two years of administrative experience in a child care setting.
