Atlas Advisors LLC (ATLAS) is seeking highly qualified and motivated Medical Supply Technicians to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Cheyenne Wyoming and Loveland Colorado. Medical Supply Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the availability of sterile medical and surgical instruments for patient care. This role requires adherence to best practices in sterilization techniques and infection control to support safe and effective medical procedures.

You have strong expertise in sterile processing practices ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the preparation and sterilization of medical instruments. You thrive in a fastpaced healthcare environment working collaboratively with medical professionals to maintain the highest standards of patient care. You are detailoriented and committed to upholding strict infection control aseptic techniques and compliance with sterilization protocols.

Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Supply Technician you will:

  • Follow best practices for cleaning decontaminating and sterilizing surgical and medical instruments.
  • Ensure instruments are properly placed in carriers such as peel pouches sterilization wraps and sterilization containers.
  • Perform instrument preparation including proper sealing of peel packs correct tape placement and vessel positioning within wraps.
  • Assemble and inspect instrument trays ensuring proper loading and inclusion of chemical sterilization indicators.
  • Verify sterilization status using accepted identification methods.
  • Utilize knowledge of medical and surgical terminology infection control and human anatomy to select appropriate instrument sets.
  • Adhere to aseptic techniques during instrument retrieval and distribution.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure the availability and proper handling of sterile instruments.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory management.


Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma GED or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in sterile processing surgical instrumentation or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sterile processing best practices including preparing instruments for sterilization using peel pouches sterilization wraps and sterilization containers.
  • Proficiency in instrument preparation for various sterilization methods:
  • Thorough knowledge of medical and surgical terminology infection control human anatomy and physiology.
  • Ability to identify and select appropriate instrument sets packs and specialized instruments based on diagnosis or operation type.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g. CRCST CBSPD or equivalent certification).
  • Experience in a VA or similar healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with Veterans Affairs administrative procedures related to sterile processing and instrument management.
