Position Description:
Imagine designing developing and maintaining statewide data solutions supporting over one million K12 students plus hundreds of thousands of parents teachers and school staff. Position Summary:
The BI Data Developer will be responsible for developing enhancing troubleshooting and maintaining datafocused software solutions using Power BI TSQL SSIS and other data management and visualization tools. The ideal candidate is solutionoriented adaptable to changing environments and capable of working with minimal defined requirements. A strong problemsolving mindset and attention to data quality are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Develop interactive data visualizations analytics dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI and associated BI tools.
- Develop TSQL queries for database object creation maintenance and data manipulation (tables views functions stored procedures scripts etc.).
- Develop ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data preparation and maintenance.
- Participate in all phases of BI and data solutions development and maintenance.
- Engage with business analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and contribute to functional specifications.
- Perform impact analysis on change requests and provide development effort estimates.
- Assist in documenting technical specifications and maintaining system design and reference documentation.
- Work with the lead Data Architect to implement data architecture principles aligning with business capabilities.
- Collaborate with the core data team to design efficient data processes and ensure data quality.
- Assist in supporting multiple SQL Server data repositories including documentation data analysis and maintenance.
- Support production systems participating in defect analysis and resolution.
- Work closely with crossfunctional teams including Project Management Business Analysis Quality Assurance and Operations.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum activities such as backlog grooming sprint planning standups and retrospectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of professional Data Development experience with relational database systems.
- Proven experience in Power BI development and other BI/data visualization tools.
- Strong SQL Server development skills including TSQL and SSIS.
- Intermediate to advancedlevel relational database modeling and design expertise.
- Strong understanding of query optimization SQL Indexing and database performance tuning.
- Ability to recognize and apply data systems development patterns and best practices.
- Proactive problemsolving skills and ability to apply creative solutions to meet business needs.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a distributed team environment.
- Effective communication skills with stakeholders at various organizational levels.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting root cause analysis and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Data Vault data modeling methodology.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data technologies.
- Experience working on an Agile/Scrum team.
- Experience in the Education and/or Government sector.
- Knowledge of EdFi CEDS and/or SIF data standards.
Additional Information:
- Local Arizona candidates only.
- Candidates must be willing to work inoffice up to five days per week as business needs require.
- A standard 7year background check is required.
