This role is responsible for leading a crossfunctional team focused on Nucleic Acid Chemistry Consumables Manufacturing to meet the manufacturing needs of the Alexandria site. Products manufactured by this teams will be supplied to both internal and external customers and includes three workstreams of consumables production. This position works directly with the Site Director to ensure that the operations of the team align with all company procedures and external regulatory requirements. This position directly supervises and supports the assigned staff leading by example and ensures that all tasks are prioritized and completed successfully and with highest quality. The position interfaces with many branches of the company (both inside and outside of the Alexandria site) along with external customers. This position is also responsible for monitoring and reporting upward the On Time in Full (OTIF) Turn Around Time (TAT) Cost of Good Sold (COGS) and Right First Time (RFT) metrics for each workstream and for driving improvements in process and methods to effect positive changes to those metrics. This position is responsible for planning of workspace equipment and personnel needs interfacing with associated groups and management of a team focused on manufacturing industryleading products.
In the role of a people manager at LGC this position is responsible for overseeing a team of employees and is responsible for specific deliverables for the business. The individual in this role executes decisions and judgement based on the outputs or needs of each workstream. In the role of a member of the Alexandria site Operations Leadership Team this role is responsible for creating an environment of Operational Excellence and Safety within each workstream and owning production quality and improvement results. The position will take responsibility for strategically positioning each workstream to meet current and future customer demands and to responding to opportunities for rapid growth in both ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 manufacturing environments.
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.
Essential Functions:
- Participate in or manage the process of the hiring training and crosstraining of staff as needed to complete assigned work and build sufficient bench strength to support production surges.
- Ensure staff is appropriately trained on all required procedures prior to performing and verify training as needed.
- Manage the priorities of each team ensuring that the changing needs of the company and customers are reflected in those priorities at all times.
- Ensure manufacturing priorities are completed by:
- Managing shop orders and due dates
- Properly scheduling employees
- Appropriately scheduling maintenance activities
- Verifying equipment is functioning and properly maintained.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with customers suppliers and team members to assure the most efficient use of time and resources.
- Ensure appropriate work instructions are in place and up to date for all processes to support standardized work clarity of expectations for all processes and continuous improvement of processes.
- Provide effective leadership through:
- Performance evaluations and goal setting
- Active coaching and mentoring of team members
- Supplying technical expertise to team members
- Enforcing company policy and managing individual performance issues
- Proactively interface with production groups customers other LGC teams to identify and implement areas of continuous improvement
- Identify and execute on objectives and goals to support a positive efficient and motivated team.
- Research implement and maintain equipment as needed to perform operational functions at the scales or volumes required by the organization.
- Review and report data to team for OTIF RFT TAT and other key manufacturing metrics and take measures to positively affect these numbers.
- Apply financial disciplines to the manufacturing and production processes to maintain and improve margin performance of our products. Work closely with product management Site Director and the Finance Manager to understand margin trends and recommend improvements.
- Make recommendations to management as necessary regarding resources required to meet manufacturing objectives including raw materials equipment employees and production space.
- Periodically review the workload of team members and take necessary measures to streamline processes as needed to maximize efficiencies and impacts of the teams.
- Maintain a safe organized and clean work environment.
- Ensure operation of all team activities and processes in accordance with Safety and Quality processes.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications :
Essential Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in manufacturing business administration Quality Control or a related field or equivalent amount of experience
- 5 years of demonstrated work experience in a related field including management of manufacturing teams
- Experience working in an ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 certified QMS or equivalent environment
- Working knowledge or training in Lean or Continuous Improvement concepts
- Proficient in the usage of Microsoft Office software and inventory management system
- Professional presence and strong attention to detail
- Proven leadership skills in a consumables manufacturing environment
- Experience hiring training leading and developing employees
Preferred Knowledge & Qualifications:
- Masters degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 10 years of industry experience and 5 years of supervisory experience
- Lean Green Belt certified
Additional Information :
The typical pay range for this role is:
Minimum: $88200 annually
Maximum: $147000 annually
This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The actual base salary will depend on several factors such as: experience skills and location
