Location: Ok Tedi Mine Tabubil Western Province Papua New Guinea
Reports to:
Position Summary:
The Electrical Project Manager will manage largescale electrical projects including installations and upgrades in commercial mining and industrial environments. This involves overseeing project schedules procurement budgets and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role also requires supervision of contractors and coordination with internal teams for smooth integration of electrical systems into existing infrastructure.

The Electrical Project Manager will manage largescale electrical projects including installations and upgrades in commercial mining and industrial environments. This involves overseeing project schedules procurement budgets and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role also requires supervision of contractors and coordination with internal teams for smooth integration of electrical systems into existing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning engineering procurement and execution of electrical projects ensuring completion within budget and schedule.
- Manage daily and weekly project activities coordinating with internal teams and subcontractors.
- Conduct and lead safety initiatives including Toolbox Talks Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments.
- Supervise plant shutdowns and electrical system integration tasks.
- Oversee training programs working with external providers to ensure upskilling of the workforce.
- Ensure effective vendor and contractor management focusing on safety and performance.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation including testing records permits and safety audits.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Safety and Risk Management certification (e.g. Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety).
- UEP40212 Certificate IV in ESI Generation (Operations) – High Voltage Switching Programs.
- UET40412 Certificate IV in ESI Network Systems – Low Voltage Switching Schedules.
- Certificate IV in Project Management or equivalent.
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology or similar.
- Current Electrical Work License (Electrical Fitter/Mechanic).
- Construction Induction White Card.
- Working Safely at Heights and Confined Space Entry certification.
- Yellow Card for Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) under 11m (preferable).
- High Voltage (HV) Arc Flash Awareness and HV Authorized Recipient certification (preferable).
- Fire Systems License (QBCC).
- Extensive experience managing electrical installations and projects in mining hydropower or industrial environments.
- Strong knowledge of project controls budget management and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with AS/NZS electrical wiring and safety standards.
- Strong understanding of electrical drawings specifications and safety protocols.
- Excellent leadership project coordination and communication skills.
