Job Description
BGMU is seeking applicants for the position of parttime Electric Engineering Intern. BGMU seeks to hire student(s) pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering. With the assistance of BGMU employees interns will acquire skills necessary to plan and design distribution system improvements plan and coordinate substation maintenance and improvements and manage projects related to the daytoday operations of BGMUs Electric System. Duties associated with this position include:
- Assist BGMUs engineering personnel with design staking and inspection of overhead and underground power line extensions.
- Assists BGMUs engineering personnel with approval and inspection of small scale rooftop solar installations.
- Assist with data entry and management for the operation of BGMUs engineering analysis software.
- Assist BGMU substation personnel with testing to ensure safe and reliable operation of BGMUs substation infrastructure.
- Assist BGMU substation personnel with programming and coordination of electronicprotective equipment.
- Assist with data entry and management for the operation of BGMUs asset management software.
- Assists engineering personnel with power quality complaints.
- Other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings related plans and construction specifications. Requires intermediate knowledge of electrical theory and mathematics. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work at all levels with a focus on quality service to internal and external customers.
Minimum Requirements:
- Sophomore and above undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
Preferred Requirements:
- 3.0 GPA or above.
Certifications & Licensing Requirements:
- Valid Kentucky drivers license with demonstration of safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles.
- First Aid and CPR.
Physical Requirements:
Must successfully pass BGMUs physical demands testing.
