Job Description
The Water Division of AECOM is seeking a creative motivated and highly talented Data Scientist II with a focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for employment in our Baltimore Maryland office. The ideal candidate will have experience in GIS and data science demonstrating strong technical expertise and problemsolving skills. This role involves supporting engineering modeling and inspection teams by automating ETL processes using Python R and SQL programming languages.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the seamless adoption of new tools and processes with minimal oversight.
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture; assemble large complex data sets to meet business requirements.
- Identify design and implement process improvements such as automating manual workflows optimizing data delivery and redesigning infrastructure for scalability.
- Maintain infrastructure for optimal extraction transformation and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources using SQL and Azure Big Data technologies for GIS consumption.
- Build analytics tools to provide actionable insights improve operational efficiency and track key business performance metrics.
- Develop custom tools and widgets for ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to address datarelated technical issues and support data infrastructure needs.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in GIS Data Science Mathematics or related field.
- 2 years of experience in GIS data science data engineering or cloud programming or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Experience in SQL (NoSQL Azure SQL DB Azure Data Lake or GCP/AWS) Python and R.
- Experience in ETL processes and automation.
- Experience with API frameworks such as ArcPy ArcGIS API for Python RArcGIS CityWorks API Flask and Django.
- Experience with the ESRI suite including ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online ArcGIS Enterprise Hubs Dashboards Experience Builder and ArcGIS for Power BI.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform including Power BI Power Automate and Power Query.
- Valid US Drivers License and as a condition of employment pass AECOMs motor vehicle records review.
- As a condition of employment candidates must pass a drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in GIS data science data engineering or cloud programming.
- Familiarity with cloud storage solutions such as Azure and AWS.
- Experience with desktop GIS software packages including Esris ArcGIS suite (ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise).
- Proficiency in creating managing editing and manipulating spatial data in various formats.
- Experience working with spatial and nonspatial databases.
- Ability to work in both office and field settings.
- Strong multitasking skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills for working with unstructured and varied datasets.
