We are seeking a curious and selfdriven project lawyer with 4 years PQE to join our Asia legal team as part of a group at the forefront of addressing global sustainability challenges. This role based in Hong Kong offers the opportunity to be involved in pioneering projects focussed on waste management carbon emissions reductions and advancing various circularity initiatives. The successful candidate will report directly to the General Counsel Hong Kong & Macau and South East Asia.
Main Responsibilities
Provide legal services in developing and implementing water waste and energy projects in Hong Kong Macau Singapore and the rest of South East Asia including:
reviewing and advising on public and private tender documentation;
drafting reviewing and negotiating project contracts with commercial teams (e.g. EPC BOT DBOM Services Agreements O&M contracts);
conducting and supervising external lawyers in arbitration and litigation procedures involving the Group;
advising on drafting reviewing and negotiating M&A contracts;
conducting and supervising due diligence exercises;
advising on and managing disputes;
managing and coordinating appointment of external counsel and managing legal budget;
advising on general corporate/commercial matters;
advising on and supervising the implementation of major Group policies; and
monitoring regulatory changes and advising management on the impact of such changes on the Groups business.
Qualifications :
strong academic background and experience in complex contract drafting;
3 years PQE with reputable international law firms or inhouse legal department of multinational corporations preferably with M&A or transactional construction experience;
Hong Kong or other common law jurisdiction qualification;
superior written and oral communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese with particular emphasis on legal drafting
fluency in Cantonese is a plus;
experience in South East Asian projects an advantage;
good knowledge of project structures and experience with project documents and contracts is a plus;
experience in projects in the water waste or energy sectors preferable; and
resourceful proactive enthusiastic and selfdriven.
