A quality control technician / quality assurance contributed to the success of blending raw materials creating food and beverage products to exact specifications. Position is responsible for weighing measuring and mixing ingredients to standards. Performing routine tests to ensure resulting mixture meets specified properties and consistencies.
This job may require lifting/carrying cases weighing 2040 pounds repeatedly over 8 to 12 hour shifts and often continuously standing and walking or manipulating and handling product samples while sitting.
Responsibilities:
Provide quality assurance support for raw materials inprocess mixes and finished product as assigned.
Conduct analytical and physical testing of raw material samples
Operates lab equipment according to detailed procedures and processes
Operate and monitor production line(s) to ensure efficiency
Assist in sampling and testing of product according to USDA requirements (once certified by USDA)
Enters new samples and results into computer and prepares reports
Remove or shift materials and/or finished products to facilitate proper flow
Perform tests and use special equipment to ensure package and product quality
Analyzes data and makes decisions on product quality works with operations to resolve issues if product is outside of specification
Performs calibration and verification for all lab equipment
Operate all manufacturing equipment efficiently and safely
Perform followup inspections of substandard materials or transportation vessels as needed; coordinate the involvement of additional department or plant resources as needed
Work with plant operations as needed to isolate and secure substandard materials
Clean equipment and area during and after shift
Perform various work assignments in support of department or plant projects
Maintain clean work area through good housekeeping practices
Follow process guidelines and expedite quality concerns to management
Work with production/maintenance as necessary
Keep daily records tests performed and results
Requirements:
High School diploma
Bachelor of Science Degree in a science related field is preferred not required
At least 1 year of experience with audit compliance (e.g. monitoring documentation variance explanation etc.)
At least 1 year of experience operating testing instruments (e.g. Carbo Qc HPLC Densitometers Water Testing etc.)
Experience following standards of operations (SOPs) (e.g. following procedures etc.)
Experience calibrating instruments (e.g. making adjustments to ensure accurate measurement etc.)
Experience preferred with microbiology (e.g. product sensitivity Category 3 and Category 4 products etc.)
Experience preferred with reverse osmosis/water treatment systems (e.g. permeated technology etc.)
Experience preferred with cooling/ammonia systems (e.g. able to trouble shoot and maintain etc.)
Experience preferred with mechanical systems (e.g. general trouble shooting cleaning and reassembly etc.)
Experience with sensory testing (e.g. taste odor appearance vs. reference sample etc.)
Experience with basic chemistry (e.g. titrator pH dosing graduated cylinders mixing etc.)
Experience with food safety (e.g. AIB certification operations prerequisite programs UP lights etc.)
Ability to work on weekends holidays as well as off shift
Willingness to work overtime
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to climb bend reach stoop kneel and stretch for extended periods with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ability to repeatedly lift carry push pull and handle products with or without a reasonable accommodation
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
Good persontoperson written email and telephone communication skills.
Proficient computer experience and math skills
Ability to wear required safety attire which may include wearing a hairnet safety glasses and/or a bump cap for the duration of your workday.
PPE Must wear steel toe boots this is required to enter the facility.
