Manages the day to day operations and responsibilities of the Employee Health Department.2. Responsible for managing and evaluating the performance of the Employee Health staff.3. Manages the Workers Compensation Program to control costs and losses due to workrelated injuries. Reports employee injuries to the Environment of Care Committee.4. Responsible for recording and maintaining the OSHA log for Emerson Hospital. Reports data per guidelines to OSHA on an annual basis.5. Responsible for monitoring and reporting all injuries involving a blood borne pathogen exposure related to a sharps injury to the Sharps Committee Infection Prevention and Control Committee as well as reporting annually to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.6. Manages and evaluates employees with workrelated injuries and communicates the employees progress to their supervisor/manager.7. Participates in regular meetings between the claims service company workers compensation lawyer and Employee Health to manage outstanding claims.8. Coordinates and manages hospital wide annual Seasonal and H1N1 influenza vaccination program and tracks all related data for reporting purposes.9. Responsible for planning and managing the Employee Health department s budget.10. Conducts preplacement health screens assesses immunizations and conducts mask fit testing for all applicable hospital healthcare personnel.11. Provides first aid to employees with work related illnesses or injuries.12. Engages in independent decisionmaking and clinical care within the scope of nursing knowledge and protocols of care.13. Provides healthcare personnel with the appropriate referrals to other providers or the Emergency Department.14. Maintains appropriate levels of confidentiality.15. Monitors healthcare personnel for illnesses and exposures. Communicates appropriate information monthly (and as necessary) to the Manager of Infection Prevention and Control or their designee.16. Consults with physicians when findings warrant medical expertise outside the scope of nursing knowledge or protocols.17. Maintains files on all existing employees containing medical histories physicals results of evaluative procedures and other health information.18. Serves as an active member of the Infection Prevention and Control Sharps and Environment of Care Committees and provides statistical data related to employee
