Responsibilities: - Plan engaging lessons with clear and measurable objectives relevant to the curriculum and students.
- Manage classroom operations by enforcing high academic and behavioral expectations.
- Create a positive classroom environment by building relationships with students and promoting selfdiscipline.
- Deliver instruction effectively by connecting new material to students prior knowledge and differentiating based on needs.
- Assess student understanding through selfassessments formative measures and summative measures.
- Collaborate with other professionals to analyze student work and implement new teaching strategies.
- Understand and participate in the development of Individual Education Programs and 504 Accommodation Plans.
- Communicate student progress to parents or guardians respectfully and responsively.
- Fulfill professional responsibilities through collaboration reflection on performance and professional development.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
Qualifications: - Massachusetts teaching certification in a relevant area.
- Certification in Special Education.
- Bachelors degree; Masters degree preferred.
- Knowledge of MA curriculum frameworks and Westwood learning expectations.
- Understanding of relevant content and school policies.
- Ability to execute the performance standards set in the WPS teaching rubric.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and build relationships with students and parents.
- Technological proficiency for communication and instruction.
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines.
