Key ResponsibilitiesLaboratory Testing:
Perform analytical methods of moderate to high complexity as outlined by the testing section.
Prepare and process specimens solutions reagents and other materials for diagnostic testing.
Monitor test processes and equipment to ensure adherence to quality control standards and proper functioning.
Documentation and Communication:
Document record and maintain information in written and electronic forms.
Communicate task status issues or relevant information to supervisors and peers.
Use computers and laboratory information systems to process and access data.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
Identify and troubleshoot issues with reagents equipment and test processes.
Perform preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Compliance and Safety:
Follow SOPs to maintain situational awareness and proficiency with biological and chemical hazards.
Ensure reagents and consumables are adequately stocked rotated and managed to minimize waste and expiration.
Education:
College transcripts must be submitted with the application.
Minimum coursework requirements:
16 credit hours in Biology.
16 credit hours in Chemistry.
3 credit hours in Prescience Math.
12 credit hours in Specific Biology (e.g. microbiology molecular biology or related fields).
Experience:
Experience with PCR testing is preferred.
Familiarity with microbiological and molecular testing techniques.
Prioritize and organize tasks to meet deadlines.
Review manuals work instructions and flowcharts to accurately analyze and report test results.
Use guidelines to determine the acceptability of test results based on laboratory policies.
Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in laboratory techniques including PCR and molecular diagnostics.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and test processes.
Knowledge of quality control standards and procedures.
Organizational Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to monitor and maintain inventory of reagents and consumables.
Communication Skills:
Effective written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration.
Ability to document and maintain accurate records.
Safety Awareness:
Understanding of biological and chemical hazards and adherence to safety protocols.
Experience in a clinical or public health laboratory setting.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and data management software.
Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
