Job Description
You are a DevOps Engineer Site Reliability Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer with a passion for onpremise and cloud infrastructure as well as automation. As a selfstarter you stay abreast of the latest developments in cloud technologies configuration management and containerization. You appreciate the advantages of immutable infrastructure and thrive on enabling selfservice deployments through continuous delivery pipelines.
Your operational mindset ensures that security backups scalability and resilience are always top priorities. You have a keen interest in security and continuously seek ways to leverage infrastructureascode to achieve security and compliance at scale. Cost efficiency is also a key concern for you and you are always looking for opportunities to reduce expenses.
With a strong customer orientation you uphold the highest quality standards when handling support requests and resolving issues as part of 3rd level support.
You excel in a crossfunctional agile product delivery team collaborating seamlessly with developers data scientists product owners and technical architects. Working with the global Enterprise IT organization is second nature to you.
Responsibilities
Working in partnership with our software engineering teams Site Reliability Engineering teams and Global Enterprise IT the Platform Services team is responsible for maintaining and operating the legacy infrastructure and applications that support the GfK product portfolio. Additionally the team plays a crucial role in supporting nextgeneration infrastructure.
Operating extensively within our hybrid environment both onpremise and cloud (GCP Azure private VMware and OLVMbased cloud) you will be embedded between the product development and SRE organizations. Your role will be to support software deployment while ensuring the highest standards of infrastructure availability and security.
You will also work closely with the Global Enterprise IT organization to support and adhere to the latest technology strategies.
You will meticulously plan and align infrastructure and software changes implementing them in accordance with our established change management procedures.
Your contributions will include making architectural decisions with a focus on security scalability costefficiency and high performance.
Part of your role will involve setting up and maintaining monitoring metrics and reporting systems for finegrained observability and actionable alerting. You will also provide 24/7 oncall services for businesscritical systems applications and services.
Qualifications :
Skills
- Windows and Linux administration skills and a deep understanding of networking and TCP/IP.
- Experience with the major cloud providers and Terraform.
- Knowledge of technical architecture and modernday design patterns including microservices serverless functions NoSQL RESTful APIs etc.
- Demonstrable skills in a Configuration Management tool like Ansible.
- Experience in operating and supporting CI/CD pipelines and tooling such as GitHub or Gitlab CI
- Proficiency in a script programming language such as PowerShell
- Proficiency in a highlevel programming language such as Python or Go is deemed a plus.
- Experience with monitoring log aggregation and alerting tooling (ELK Prometheus Grafana etc).
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with secret management tools like Hashicorp Vault is deemed a plus
- Proficient in reliability modeling for optimizing system performance and resilience.
- Experience with big data technologies such as NoSQL/RDBMS(PostgreSQL Oracle MongoDB)
- Experience in troubleshooting and monitoring largescale distributed systems
- Experience with agile methodologies is deemed a plus
