Job Description

*ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULLTIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES*

The First Deputy Commissioner oversees the Business Development & Special Events Division the Communications Division the Lifeguard Division and Government Relations for NYC Parks. We are seeking a candidate with excellent organizational and timemanagement skills the ability to manage competing priorities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can confidently and effectively collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure tasks and projects are completed on time.

Major Responsibilities
Provide executivelevel support to the NYC Parks First Deputy Commissioner with a high degree of initiative judgment and discretion.
Assist in managing a complex schedule for the First Deputy Commissioner handling frequent reprioritizations that often require independent decisionmaking.
Proactively identify and prioritize situations requiring the First Deputy Commissioners attention through independent analysis and judgment.
Coordinate resources and assemble appropriate reference and backup materials for all meetings and events.
Conduct research and prepare presentations briefings and reports.
Support the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff in Government Relations projects.
Provide outstanding customer service and administrative support for the daytoday operations of the First Deputy Commissioners office including answering phones and drafting correspondence to constituents.
Perform other duties as assigned by the First Deputy Commissioner and the Chief of Staff to the First Deputy Commissioner.

Qualifications :

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
