Applications are invited for the role of Research Associate in Bioinformatics to work in translational neurooncology in the Hamerlik lab in Manchester. The post involves dealing with multiomic data analysis and storage focusing particularly on multiomic data from liquid biopsies collected in the NHS REC approved multicentre ‘INFORM’ study. Tasks range from lowlevel QC and mapping through to statistical analysis data visualization machine learning and biological interpretation. The postholder will also help develop tools and workflows and will contribute to writing up work for journal papers and presentations. There will also be opportunities to contribute to training and education activities e.g. through attendance at courses workshops and conferences.
The successful applicant will have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and must be familiar with proteomics and/or genomics data analysis methods. Experience of programming in a language relevant to Bioinformatics is essential (e.g. R Python C/C or Java) as are strong knowledge of statistics and good communication skills. You should also have good recording and curation skills to enable high project throughput.
The post holder will be based at the Paterson Research Building in Manchester and work in proximity with the local bioinformatics core unit. The role will be highly collaborative; it will involve working together with colleagues across cancer sciences and the Centre for Biostatistics but also more broadly.
