Pipeline Design Engineer

AECOMs Water Business Line is seeking a talented Pipeline Design Project Engineer with a home base within New England.  It is expected that this role will provide support to projects throughout the United States.   The candidate will work and learn directly from one of AECOMs globally recognized pipeline design experts.

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic geotechnical or structural engineer interested in soilstructure interaction to support: new pipeline design and installation existing installations failure and forensics analysis condition assessment finite element analysis (FEA) and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

• Collaborate with pipeline design experts to develop and review design and construction plans specifications and cost estimates.
• Conduct field inspections and condition assessments to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations.
• Work on projects related to pipeline failure analysis and pipeline forensics analysis.
• Provide technical guidance to AECOM project teams
• Technical writing reviewing and providing clear concise input to investigations memorandums or solutions reports.
• Stay current on industry trends and advancements in pipeline design and engineering.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

• BS in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering and 8 years of related experience.
• 8 years of project experience in design of municipal water wastewater and/or stormwater pipeline design analysis installation and inspection.   
• Previous experience in Mathcad / MATLAB and FEA.
• Valid Drivers License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites.  As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Licensed PE
• Masters Degree.
• Previous experience working with pipeline design codes standards and regulations.
• Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings.
• Understanding of construction methods such as opencut and trenchless (micro tunneling jack and bore etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure.
• Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation. 
• Past experience with pipeline condition assessment and analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams.
