About the Opportunity
Our Health Safety and Wellbeing team play a crucial role in providing a safe and healthy learning and working environment for staff students and visitors across our campuses.
We are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to launch their career in the health and safety industry. Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Manager the Officer will assist in providing a broad range of administrative and contractor coordination processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with contractors to to review and verify contractors safety management systems work statements and permits
- Providing advice to contractors on a range of health and safety policies and requirements
- Undertaking routine audits and verifications of activities and practices
- Conducting site inspections and spot check to ensure contractor compliance
- Record keeping of health and safety incidents and inspections in a range of systems
- Assisting in health and safety investigations
About you
- A confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to understand and interpret policies and procedures
- An eye for detail able to identify potential hazards or breaches of safety practices
- Strong administrative skills with the ability to use data bases and electronic record keeping systems
- Completion of a relevant certificate qualification up to Cert IV in Work Health and Safety with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check. Please note sponsorship is not available for this role.

This is a continuing opportunity based at Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multisite University you may be required to work across other locations.
HEW 4 Salary base range $71827.41 $75785.75 17% super. Full package range $84038.08 $88669.34.
