Job Title: Medical Affairs Manager UK&I (Final Signatory)

The Medical Affairs Manager is a scientific and clinical expert that strategically drives and supports the medical objectives of Alnylam in the designated therapeutic area. The Medical Affairs Manager is expected to be a qualified physician or pharmacist and has experience as a final medical signatory per the ABPI Code of Practice.
Key Responsibilities
The role requires development of a deep understanding of the relevant therapy area as well as the clinical development and data supporting Alnylam medicines within the scope of the Medical Affairs Manager role.
The Medical Affairs Manager (Final Signatory) provides compliance support in respect of activities and materials generated across the crossfunctional Brand Team. Will be expected to undergo ongoing training and validation in their ABPI final signatory role. The Medical Affairs Manager is also expected to build strong crossfunctional relationships with colleagues in Medical Affairs Clinical Research R&D Patient Advocacy and Commercial Operations while maintaining full compliance with all relevant company industry legal and regulatory requirements.
The Medical Affairs Manager may be required to support Patient Advocacy and Engagement (PAE). This would be to enhance Alnylam’s patientfocused culture collaborating with the PAE team to enable communications gain insight and identify collaboration opportunities with patient advocacy groups and patients.
This role is a hybrid role with time split between the office working from home and engaging with HCPs. The successful candidate will be required to travel including possible overnight stays to balance field and office based activities.

- Develop and continuously maintain the highest scientific and medical expertise within the designated therapeutic area and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert in this area developing peertopeer scientific relationships with HCPs and giving medical support to the corresponding crossfunctional disease area teams.
- Maintain ongoing knowledge base on the ABPI Code of Practice and understanding of the Compliance environment identifying and implementing optimization of Alnylam processes where appropriate.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Country Medical Affairs Plan and strategy as part of the cross functional brand plan to support disease awareness best clinical practice and the overall corporate objectives.
- Actively engage with the Country brand team to provide medical leadership within the designated therapeutic area to ensure the effective local implementation of Alnylam strategy and appropriate use of local market intelligence and development opportunities.
- Working collaboratively and leading the brand team to optimize activities materials and messaging in the constraints of the ABPI Code of Practice identifying and mitigating risks where necessary.
- Identify key opinion leaders and cultivate a network of experts for the designated therapeutic area.
- Initiate and support high impact medical education activities including congress symposia hospital meetings and speaker development programs; provide medical and scientific input into the planning and execution of advisory boards.
- Actively engage with International & Global Medical Affairs and other functions providing medical leadership within the designated therapeutic area
- Collaborate with health care professionals to identify opportunities for the development of algorithms and guidelines to facilitate early diagnosis.
- Manage requests for Alnylam product supply in offlabel and compassionate use cases in accordance with local and Alnylam procedures.
- UK registered MD (Medical Doctor) and/or UK registered Pharmacist
- Detailed understanding of the ABPI and IPHA Codes of Practice
- ABPI and IPHA final signatory status is required
- Excellent fluent and verbal English
- Prior experience in rare and specialty disease areas.
- Proven basic science and/or clinical background to enable engagement of Health Care Professionals in a scientifically meaningful exchange.
- Good analytical skills as applied to medical scientific and technical information
- Experience in real world evidence generation
- Experience in medical education and KOL management
- Effective communication of evidence based scientific information
- Knowledge of aspects of drug development GCP and local regulations
- Ability to work collaboratively and crossfunctionally
- Management and planning skills as well as decisionmaking and accountability
- Confident and has the professional competence to win respect and gain credibility at all levels within and outside the company; capable of representing the company externally
