Job Description

Position: Controller

Location: Bakersfield CA

Type: Direct Hire Full Time

Salary: $120000 $140000

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Controller position requires a bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field with a CPA or masters degree preferred. Candidates should have 57 years of experience in accounting or finance including expertise in financial reporting budgeting and team management. Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills is essential along with a solid understanding of GAAP. The role also demands strong leadership capabilities with experience managing accounting teams and collaborating across departments. Additionally the Controller must possess excellent analytical skills to interpret financial data generate reports and provide strategic insights as well as a thorough knowledge of tax laws and industryspecific regulations to ensure compliance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include at least two years of corporate financial management experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel with the ability to create and analyze spreadsheets as well as generate charts and graphs is also desired.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The Controller reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for the overall financial management of the company as well as overseeing the Finance and Accounting Department. This includes fostering professionalism and a supportive teamoriented environment among staff while coordinating the activities of the Financial Accounting team. The Controller is directly accountable for the performance and results of employees under their supervision. They have full authority to implement company policies and make managerial decisions that positively impact the companys financial operations and outcomes.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Maintain strong and consistent communication with both the Leadership Team and the Financial Accounting Staff to ensure alignment and effective collaboration across all departments.

  1. Work cooperatively with other members of administration to attain the financial goals and objectives of each individual company or business under the ownership of the company.

  1. Responsible for developing educational procedures and policies which will provide the necessary administrative staff education to insure timely submission of all or required financial tax returns reports payroll reports cost summaries sales and income information.

  1. Responsible for preparing the monthly financial statements the company and its affiliates. These statements will be reviewed in collaboration with the companys Certified Public Accountant CFO and Company Controller to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  1. Upon completion of monthly financial statements shall schedule conferences with Executive personnel for the purposes of budget review operational costs profits and other related departmental financial interests.

  1. Supervise and direct all accounts payable functions including personnel responsible for compiling information.

  1. Responsible for reviewing and monitoring all company investment portfolios including employee benefit programs such as the 401(k) IRS 125 Plan and other related plans to ensure optimal performance and compliance.

  1. Responsible for the preparation of an annual budget for all companies and various departments including monthly analysis.

  1. Responsible for determining financing needs and negotiating loan agreements capital project equipment purchases and lines of credit for the company and its affiliates. Additionally responsible for developing a comprehensive longterm business plan to support the growth and financial stability of the company and its affiliates.

  1. Responsible for the preparation of a complete annual accounting of business services and provide ALL necessary documents required by the County of Kern Ambulance Permit Ordinance.

  1. Responsible for overseeing all cash planning and disbursements to ensure efficient cash flow management. Additionally responsible for monitoring and reviewing the companys purchase order system to ensure accuracy compliance and efficiency.

  1. Responsible for the research and development of data processing services which will enhance company financial services.

  1. Responsible for developing cost analysis information which will be utilized for Company proposal contracts and annual fee increases.

  1. Assist other members of the Administrative Staff in the negotiation of new company contracts or financial enhancements.

  • Responsible for the preparation of all information required for the preparation of Federal and State Income Tax Returns.

  1. Develop training procedures for Financial Accounting Department which will insure prompt and efficient accounting information for all levels of Company Management.

  1. Assist corporate designated C.P.A. with all governmental audits involving the business and as needed the personal interests of the company.

  1. Keeps the Executive team informed of the companys financial status and the status of departments reporting to him/her problems or anticipated problems and make recommendations for changes in the corporate environment.

  1. Assures that reporting staff adhere to strict confidentiality security and needtoknow standards.

  1. Performs other duties as assigned by the CFO of the company.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Serves as a role model guiding employees in managing and developing their skills effectively.

  1. Plans tasks by defining objectives assigning responsibilities determining methods and setting deadlines for completion.

  1. Organizes by prioritizing tasks creating schedules and ensuring the right employees are assigned to the right roles.

  1. Motivates and guides employees to achieve specific goals fostering enthusiasm responsibility and a strong work ethic while ensuring performance is properly managed and disciplined when necessary.

  1. Identifies and addresses problems through training or counseling ensuring proper documentation and followup evaluations to track resolution.

  1. Assists in managing departmental budgets including time costs materials and personnel and helps Department Managers develop annual budgets.

  1. Ensures company objectives are met by aligning team efforts with organizational goals.

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Exhibits respect integrity and loyalty to all Company interests including Administrative Staff Support Personnel Business Clients and Executive Team.
  2. Maintains high standards for health safety welfare and ethical behavior.
  3. Adheres to all policies of agencies institutional and regulatory bodies.

  5. Supports interprets and complies with the philosophies of the company.
  6. Maintains own required certification and licensure.
  7. As directed attend various Continuing Education seminars or courses which will enhance individual knowledge of ambulance health care industry.
