Job Description

Controls Engineer | Worcestershire/Gloucestershire Areas | 50,000 - 60,000 + Uplift + Benefits | 32344

Commutable from Worcester, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Ross-on-Wye, Stroud, Bristol, Swindon, Evesham, Stratford-upon-Avon, Hereford,

Do you speak fluent PLC? How about HMI or motion control?

If you know your way around these, and the words "automation" and "robotics" light up your world, then this role could be for you.

We're looking for someone who can take complex, bespoke automation machinery projects and make them run like clockwork. Think high-speed systems, special-purpose machinery, and integrating the kind of tech that makes industrial processes smarter and faster.

This isn't a desk job where you're stuck debugging code all day. You'll be hands-on, from the workshop floor to customer sites around the world, working on systems that are used globally.

Here's What You'll Be Doing As The Controls Engineer:

  • Writing, tweaking, and fine-tuning PLC, HMI, and motion control programs (Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens,).
  • Integrating vision systems for inspection and measurement.
  • Making sure machinery meets international safety standards (and doesn't just look good on paper).
  • Testing, troubleshooting, and supporting prototype builds and new machine installations.
  • Travelling to customer sites, UK and International, to make sure everything runs smoothly.
  • Keeping documentation tight and clear so others can follow your lead.
  • Constantly finding ways to improve processes, productivity, and quality.

The Controls Engineer Will Need to Bring:

  • A HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a software-related discipline.
  • Solid experience with PLCs, HMIs, and motion programming.
  • Bonus points for knowing robotics or vision systems.
  • A knack for explaining technical things in plain English.
  • A "let's get this sorted" attitude when faced with challenges.
  • The flexibility to adapt when projects shift.

Why You'll Like This Controls Engineer Role:

  • This is not a "cookie-cutter" job. The projects are varied, the challenges keep you on your toes, and your work will genuinely make an impact.
  • You'll be joining a team that values innovation and thrives on solving problems.
  • A salary package that reflects your skills and experience, alongside the chance to work on cutting-edge tech for clients worldwide. There's also a solid package of benefits, including travel opportunities, a supportive team environment, and plenty of room for growth.
