Job Description

AECOM is seeking a T&D Department Manager to lead and grow a newly established business line within AECOM Energy.  The T&D Department Manager has to the opportunity to provide overall leadership vision and managerial direction to establish AECOMs position within the National T&D Market. The T&D Department Manager will own the accountability for all project management engineering and business development within the USA T&D market and work closely with other T&D managers and the overall Energy leadership team.

As the T&D Department Manager you will have to opportunity to grow the T&D team to support clients in the United States and around the world. 

Some of the opportunities you can look forward to undertaking as part of this role include the following:
 

Business Development

  • Identification and pursuit of T&D opportunities
  • Establishing AECOMs position in the T&D Market through strategic planning business plan development and business development activities with a focus on continued growth in Market share profitable growth and a great work environment.
  • Providing overall oversight and direction for the business development of the T&D Markets.
  • Oversee the development of strong workwinning relationships with key T&D stakeholders at current and prospective clients.
  • Oversee the development of T&D work with new clients as well as the expansion of T&D work with existing clients.
  • Provide oversight for the pursuit process including go/nogo decisions win strategies proposal staffing development of pricing contract terms and conditions and riskreviews.
  • Direct QC process to monitor the development of scopes of work schedules and budgets during the pursuit process.
  • Provide seniorlevel technical advice regarding execution of engineering projects to the project execution teams.
  • Lead by example with a servant leader mentality
  • Facilitate collaboration with branch and other regional offices to coordinate business plans and assist in the pursuit of T&D opportunities.
  • Support the T&D Section Managers global work planning and collaboration.
  • Work with the Business Development and Account Management personnel for the development and administration of client and project capture plans.

Recruitment and Staff Management

  • Hire and retain the best T&D staff across the globe!
  • Recruitment and development of T&D projectmanagersintraining and project managers.
  • Maintain a forecast of workload and required skillsets
  • Create career paths and developmental plans for staff needed to grow T&D.
  • Work with section managers contributing to the T&D Business Line to identify gaps in skillsets and/or levels such that they can hire and structure their respective sections to allow for realizing the Business Line Managers vision and for the pursuit of all viable opportunities
  • Facilitate a thriving work environment that facilitates the recruitment development and retainment of the Markets toptalent.
  • Conduct midyear and annual performance evaluations for direct reports and participate in evaluations of other staff as required.


Project Management Leadership

  • Identify and implement project management methods procedures tools and technology to win new work and to execute existing work more profitably.
  • Identify and oversee implementation of effective new management practices across the department to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Coach team to proactively work through corrective actions where deficiencies are identified.
  • In coordination with relevant Section Managers provide support and direction for all T&D engineering projects including the project management project planning scheduling resource management budgeting and the establishment/execution of critical project objectives. Demonstrate creativity foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Responsible for the profitability and financial performance of the T&D projects portfolio. Includes oversight and identification of T&D project and portfolio risks and the administration of the associated mitigation strategies to provide for a portfolio of work that meets or exceeds set goals.
  • Provide executive leadership to the project management team to help them direct and coordinate assignments and activities of several disciplines ensuring efficient and costeffective utilization of staff.
  • Conduct recurring project reviews to identify execution risks and review financial performance and resources.
  • Provide seniorlevel engineering and project management expertise to guide project managers in executing engineering projects.
  • Establish effective policies and procedures that promote project success including ontime delivery client satisfaction quality and profitability.
  • Coordinate with the T&D team to support the development of EPC and Program Management opportunities.
  • Act as a leader in the advancement and development of innovative department tools and workflows to increase department efficiencies and promote the adoption and use of technology tools across all T&D project teams.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering Business or related degree 12 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 4 years of leadership.
  • 12 years of consulting experience 8 years experience in the transmission and distribution industry with a transmission engineering design and/or project management focus.
  • Demonstrated results in client and business development.
  • Demonstrated results in managing projects which includes proposal development contract negotiations project planning design team coordination & communication budgeting schedule management and client coordination.
  • Valid US Drivers License and as a condition of employment pass AECOMs motor vehicle records review

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert facilitation collaboration organization and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated success as to budget savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.
  • Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence lead and manage.
  • Excellent planning and analytical skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees management and clients
  • Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred
  • Experience in contract negotiations
