Job Description
*Available Shift: 1st shift 5AM to 1PM CST*
The Tool Grinder B is responsible for setting up and operating grinders to perform standard tool grinding tasks.
Job Duties:
- Read blueprints and instructions to prepare materials and tools for grinding.
- Set up grinders for various operations including surface grinding drill pointing broaching and hobbing on steel and carbide tools.
- Plan operations select workpiece holding methods and verify dimensions and requirements.
- Choose and dress grinding wheels set machine parameters (speed feed rates angles etc.).
- Position tools measure workpieces and determine material removal needs.
- Start machines monitor operations and ensure highquality finishes.
- Get firstpiece inspection approval and adjust settings as needed.
- Check work for accuracy and store finished pieces.
- Maintain equipment keep tools clean and safe and report any issues.
- Use measuring tools like micrometers and calipers to ensure precision.
- Follow safety rules and keep the work area clean.
- Assist others and perform other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Over 3 years of experience in manual machining
- Skilled in manual milling (facing boring drilling tapping)
- Experienced with manual lathes (turning boring singlepoint threading)
- Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers micrometers height gauges optical comparators)
Must have:
- Candidates must have reliable transportation
- Candidates must be open to overtime and working Saturdays
