Job Description: Mechanical Fitter / Service Engineer

Location: Bristol
Salary: 35,000 - 40,000 p.a. (DOE)

The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter / Service Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the assembly, testing, and commissioning of bespoke packaging machinery. You'll be working both in the workshop and occasionally on-site, contributing to a growing and dynamic team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assembling sub-assemblies and integrating them into machine frames.
• Installing pneumatic systems and ensuring functionality.
• Testing and running customer products prior to commissioning.
• Traveling to customer sites within the UK and occasionally Europe (e.g., Belgium) for machine commissioning.

The Company

Our client is a well-established, Bristol-based company specializing in innovative carton, sleeving, and flexible packaging machinery. With an expanding portfolio of installations across the UK, Europe, and the US, they are at an exciting stage of growth and development. The team consists of 14 members, including sales, spare parts specialists, and a service manager, creating a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have:

• A mechanical engineering qualification or apprenticeship.
• 4-5 years of experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A proactive attitude and the ability to integrate seamlessly into the team.

Desirable:

• Previous experience with packaging machinery assembly and commissioning.
• Hands-on skills with pneumatic systems and machine setup.
