The Opportunity:
We are looking for Versatile curious and energetic Staff Software Engineer who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer you will be an integral part of a multifunctional development team inventing designing building and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical documents develop code review code build environment review test results and prepare plan for implementation
- Analyze technical impact stability and functionality due to any custom change
- Manage small to mediumsized project/initiatives as an individual contributor with advanced knowledge within discipline.
- Evaluate code to ensure it is valid meets industry standards and is compatible with devices and/or operating systems
- Develop or validate test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces
- Proactively identify defects in software code and isolate/contain the defects to prevent customer impact.
- Build partnerships with product management to ensure that the products being built deliver real value
- Identify problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback and correct problems
**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance we have exciting team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didnt work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 23 set days a week (determined by leadership/site) with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications :
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 6 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
- 812 years development role experience on MVS/OS390 batch application
- 6 years development role experience in COBOL/JCL/ISPF
- 6 years development role experience using FILEAID
- 6 years development role experience using ESP CA7 or another scheduling software
- Ability to solve complex software development/design issues
- Ability to write clean coherent code following established coding guidelines
- Strong interpersonal facilitation and effective communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear concise way
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Ability to work independently exhibiting strong multitasking and time management skills
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
- Strong communication (oral & written) skills including the ability to translate technical issues/concepts into ways for nontechnical staff to understand
- General knowledge of EFT settlement and transaction processing is a plus
- REXX/ControlM experience is a plus
- Connex/Advantage settlement application is a plus
- Past experience in the Payment industry is a plus
