Job Summary:

The Coding and Billing Auditor is responsible for performing detailed quality reviews of provider records to ensure accurate ICD10 and CPT code assignment and validate clinical documentation. This role involves auditing records for compliance educating staff on coding guidelines and providing coding support to BHMG coding and billing personnel.

This position is fully onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Audit Medical Records:

    • Review and validate accurate CPT code assignments.
    • Compile audit reports with detailed findings and analyses.
    • Ensure selected CPT codes align with clinical documentation.
    • Consistently meet productivity targets for audits.
  2. Provider Record Audits:

    • Conduct biannual audits of all established provider records.
    • Maintain the BHMG audit log and prepare detailed reports.
  3. Provider Communication & Education:

    • Collaborate with providers to validate findings and recommend enhanced documentation practices.
    • Design and implement tools to improve medical record documentation in collaboration with the Revenue Cycle Manager.
    • Provide formal and informal training to providers on coding and documentation guidelines.
  4. Team Training & Support:

    • Train new revenue cycle team members on coding and documentation standards.
    • Assist the Revenue Cycle Manager in evaluating coding activities and conducting performance reviews as needed.
  5. Additional Duties:

    • Perform coding procedures when required.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of plans for improved documentation.
    • Handle other related tasks within the scope of responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate Degree in a related field
  • Certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in inpatient/outpatient coding and auditing
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Experience: Coding experience in a multispecialty group practice setting
