Job Description

AECOM is looking for a PartTime (casual) Offshore Wind Energy Permitting Specialist to join our Northeast US Environmental Planning & Permitting Department. This is a remote position based in New England. This is a parttime oncall position with regular weekly hours.

Responsibilities for this position would include but not be limited to:

  • Environmental consulting marine and coastal permitting and scientific specialization.
  • Provides technical and management leadership for a discipline or area of responsibility.
  • Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative.
  • Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with senior level scientists within the company and with key science officials of other organizations and companies and is skilled in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues. 
  • Demonstrated creativity foresight and mature scientific judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual problems determining program objectives and requirements organizing programs and projects and developing standards and guides for diverse scientific activities. 
  • Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS 12 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education including 4 years of leadership
  • Experience in environmental consulting marine and coastal permitting or scientific specialization.
  • Due to the nature of work US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years experience demonstrated proficiency supporting the permitting and development of offshore wind lease areas including COP Studies Surveys and full understanding of BOEM permitting requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong understanding of northeastern US state and local permitting along with terrestrial permitting for the electric transmission industry also highly desirable.
