JOB SUMMARY:
The Waste Water Operator is incharge of the daily operations of sewage treatment plant and sewer network ensuring efficiency and compliance to applicable laws and regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
PLANT OPERATION EFFICIENCY
- Operate and monitor sewage treatment plant equipment including pumps valves filters and chemical treatment systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep sewage treatment plant equipment and systems in good working condition.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules to prevent equipment failures and prolong the lifespan of plant assets.
- Escalate immediately to immediate head any issues or abnormalities and/or parts for immediate replacement and procurement as required for repairs and maintenance activities.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of chemicals and other treatment agents used in the sewage treatment process.
SEWER NETWORK EFFICIENCY
- Conduct inspections of sewer lines manholes and other infrastructure components to assess their condition and identify any signs of damage blockages or leaks.
- Perform sewer line cleaning and clearing activities using specialized equipment such as jet vacuums and rodding machines to remove debris roots and other obstructions.
- Respond promptly to sewer system emergencies such as overflows or backups and take appropriate measures to contain spills mitigate environmental impacts and restore normal operation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to plan and execute sewer system upgrades expansions or rehabilitation projects as needed.
WATER QUALITY COMPLIANCE and REPORTING
- Maintain accurate records of plant operations maintenance activities and regulatory compliance measures including data on effluent quality chemical usage and equipment performance.
- Prepare and submit reports to immediate head regularly.
