Job Description

KIPP Minnesota seeks exceptional licensed Special Education Elementary Education teachers for our upcoming school year.

We offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package that includes medical dental vision and retirement benefits.

Starting salary Tier 1 teachers: $44880 (Tier 2/3/4 Teacher salary is dependent on the experience. To inquire for more details email ).

Other benefits include many paid days off including breaks (we take an entire weeks in November and other points throughout the school year!) plus eight additional PTO days for Teachers. We also have For You Fridays (AKA an afternoon off).

The district is willing to work with applicants whose licenses are in process OR request an outoffield permission license is needed.

Position Overview

The Special Education Elementary School Teacher you are a KIPP Minnesota Team member and will directly lead instruction with students. Special Education teachers coteach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion or resource classroom setting to support all students and lead small group instructional spaces. They will plan daily lessons that lead to high levels of student achievement and build and support a schoolwide culture and excellence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement the schoolwide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
  • Create and teach challenging and engaging lessons aligned to state standards
  • Assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping
  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents
  • Create a classroom environment that is warm and demanding and expects 100% of students to meet expectations
  • Maintain a neat clean classroom environment and a professional personal appearance
  • Work to ensure that all IEPs and student needs are met both within and outside of the classroom
  • Manage a student caseload
  • Perform morning lunch and afternoon duties as assigned and attend all staff meetings
  • With support from school leaders use data to drive instructional practices to constantly improve student achievement and instruction
  • Seek to constantly develop and improve teaching practices through ongoing feedback conversations with School Leaders and other school faculty within KIPP Minnesota

Qualifications :

DESIRED EXPERIENCE Required

  • B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
  • Minnesota state certification in teaching appropriate subject areas (K6 Special Education Elementary Education). Applicants who will hold the following credentials by August 31st of each school year are welcome to apply. We will work with applicants whose license is in process.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Experience writing IEPs not necessary will train
  • Highly organized and punctual
  • Customer focused approach
  • A high degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fastpaced environment
  • Experience with using technology in teaching and learning
  • Skill in using positive constructive disciplinary approaches
  • Familiarity with current teaching/learning theories

Highly Preferred

  • Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color
  • Minimum three (3) years of classroom teaching experience

Salary Range: $44880

*To establish equitable salary practices the compensation package is derived from the Regional KIPP Minnesota pay scale and benefits package which includes medical dental life long & shortterm disability and retirement benefits and an annual salary review and revision.
