The Internship Program will be for a 36 month period with the possibility to extend to a FullTime Position.
A Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Intern will be expected to ensure timely and accurate operations while providing exceptional customer service within the FTZ Department.
Transfer customs declaration information from documents or other sources into the Foreign Trade Zone system to allow for the build of a valid FTZ Admission
Track and Trace international shipments
Ensure smooth accurate and timely submission of FTZ entries to obtain timely clearance of cargo from US Customs and Participating Government Agencies
Timely dispatch of freight to truckers and coordinate delivery
Ensure accurate and timely client and service provider billing
Identify and manage exceptions while identifying opportunities for continual improvement in processes
Understand all the elements of the import customs Desk Level Operating Procedure and correctly interpret this information to fulfill our customers instructions and expectations.
Ensure compliance at all times by following government regulations and company policies
Preferred Qualifications:
Customs Brokerage Experience with a focus on Foreign Trade Zones with good knowledge of brokerage processes and interactions with government agencies is preferred
Experience with working with truckers terminals forwarders and carriers
Driven and motivated to continue in a career in international logistics
Must be able to work out of the El Paso office
High School Degree or equivalent required
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Must not require future sponsorship for employment visa
Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the departments needs
Fluent in English both written and verbal
Good computer skills (Word Excel and familiarity with PowerPoint)
Familiarity with 10key usage
Ability to multitask and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
Demonstrated ability to be proactive in thought and action
Strong organizational skills
Analytical with a strong attention to detail
Effective interpersonal skills including proven ability to listen comprehend and effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
