Job Description

***Candidate must be currently serving in the Staff Analyst title.

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the worlds busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Departments main goal is to provide fire protection emergency medical care and other critical public safety services to residents and visitors in the five boroughs. FDNY members are sworn to serve and protect life and property and the Department works to continually educate the public in fire life safety and disaster preparedness along with enforcing public safety codes. Since its inception in 1865 FDNY has helped lead efforts to make New York the safest big city in the nation. This accomplishment requires a steadfast and daily commitment to maintaining the Departments core values.

The Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) seeks a fulltime Staff Analyst in the Bureau of the EEO Unit. Reporting directly to the Assistant Commissioner and the Director the successful candidate will: Prepare reports for the EEO Office and external agencies. Track and monitor EEO complaint and inquiry inventory. Update logs case databases case assignment reports and other reports. Create case folders and expedite the processing of cases. Respond to various document and information requests and other matters as they arise and redact legal documents. Create and process various letters for mailing to parties and witnesses. Assist attorneys in the management of cases through various stages of the EEO investigation and the Reasonable Accommodation (RA) process. Compile information for EEO reports and RA reports. Conduct data entry across various platforms. Archive EEO and RArelated documents. Answer telephones and assist with visitors to the EEO Office.


Qualifications :

1. A masters degree from an accredited college or university accredited by regional national professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in economics finance accounting business or public administration human resources management management science operations research organizational behavior industrial psychology statistics personnel administration labor relations psychology sociology human resources development political science urban studies or a closely related field; or
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university accredited by regional national professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and two years of satisfactory fulltime professional experience working in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration accounting economic or financial administration or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis operations research organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration recruitment position classification personnel relations labor relations employee benefits staff development employment program planning/administration labor market research economic planning social services program planning/evaluation or fiscal management; or in a related area.
Special Note:
To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have after meeting the minimum requirements one additional year of professional experience as described in 2 above.
