Job Description
We are seeking a PhD candidate for a research project aimed at enhancing greenhouse gas (GHG) emission tracking using advanced data analytics and visualisation methods.
By integrating hyperspectral satellite imagery with cuttingedge analytical frameworks the project will provide precise actionable insights into atmospheric GHG concentrations such as CO2 and methane to identify highemission areas and trends. This work will combine data from global satellite sources including Landsat Sentinel and MODIS with climate and ecological datasets to create userfriendly tools supporting climate change mitigation strategies.
Success in this role requires collaboration with industry partners reporting weekly throughout the projects duration.
This opportunity will be primarily based at Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multisite University you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith Universitys sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul Yuggera Jagera Turrbal Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Qualifications :
The selection of applicants for higher degree research scholarships at Griffith University considers academic merit and research background. To be successful in this role you must demonstrate strong analytical skills the ability to work independently and collaboratively and a commitment to meeting research deadlines. Evidence of a passion for environmental sustainability and advanced data analytics is essential along with a strong desire to contribute to innovative research in greenhouse gas emission tracking using hyperspectral satellite imagery and cuttingedge visualisation and analytical methods.

- Applicants must have completed or expect to complete a bachelors degree with honours equivalent to second class honours or a Masters degree (AQF Level 9) incorporating a significant research component of a standard comparable to a bachelor honours degree or be regarded by Griffith University as having an equivalent level of attainment. International applicants should ensure that English Language Proficiency requirements for the program are met before formally applying. Applicants to research programs will need to show they meet:
- A minimum overall band score of 6.5 on the IELTS (Academic) with no band score less than 6.0 OR
- A minimum score of 575 on the paperbased TOEFL including a score of no less than 5.0 on the TWE OR
- A score of 79 on the internetbased (iBT) TOEFL with no subscore less than 19

About the scholarship
This Griffith Industry Postgraduate Research Scholarship has an annual stipend of $50000 for a period of up to three years of fulltime study. Please see the Industry PhD Scholarship for more information.
