Electrochemical Data Analysis Software Development
Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) water electrolysers are a key technology for sustainable hydrogen production. Central to their design are bipolar plates which play a critical role in distributing reactants collecting current and separating individual cells within the electrolyser stack. However corrosion of these platesespecially under the highly acidic and oxidative environment of a PEM electrolyserremains a major challenge impacting both performance and durability.
To better understand and mitigate bipolar plate corrosion electrochemical techniques such as Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) Potentiodynamic Polarization and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) are employed. These methods generate large datasets that require systematic efficient and accurate analysis. While some existing scripts handle basic analysis like Tafel slope fitting and corrosion current (Icorr) determination there is a need to expand optimize and integrate these tools into a userfriendly software package.
This internship focuses on developing an application (using MATLAB or Python) that will facilitate indepth electrochemical data analysis specifically for PEM electrolyser corrosion studies. The application will allow for streamlined data storage retrieval and advanced plotting of electrochemical resultsultimately helping researchers to accelerate the development of more robust bipolar plate materials and extend the operational life of PEM water electrolyser systems.
Project Description
This internship project focuses on creating a userfriendly applicationusing either MATLAB or Pythonto analyze and plot data from electrochemical methods. In addition to essential analysis routines (e.g. Tafel slope fitting corrosion current calculation) the software will incorporate automated data handling and storage features for quick retrieval and streamlined comparisons between datasets. The intern will also optimize existing scripts to extend their functionality and ensure smoother performance.
