Job Description
This is a remote position.
There is a DG SME resource for a project that will be needed for 6 to 8 weeks.
The Data Governance Subject Matter Expert (SME) will be working closely with the client business owner will analyze current data artifacts identify needs and enhancements. This role requires close collaboration with business technical and compliance teams to ensure enterprise data assets are secure accurate and aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Governance Analysis and Recommendations
- Lead the analysis of current data governance policies standards and processes against best practice standards and make recommendations to enhance or develop new artifacts.
- Examine and recommend modifications or creation to a data governance operating model focusing on ownership stewardship and accountability for data quality and security.
- Assess existing workflows and processes for data governance and stewardship activities and make recommendations for changes
Collaboration and Training
- Collaborate with data stewards data owners and IT teams.
- Work with and regularly communicate with the Data Governance implementation team on findings and recommendations.
Regulatory Compliance and Security
- Analyze current state and recommend compliance with regulatory standards (e.g. GDPR CCPA HIPAA)
- Analyze the current state and recommend data retention access control and purging policies to mitigate risks.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Analyze current state metrics and dashboards and make recommendations for improvements for monitoring
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Systems Data Management or a related field.
- Experience: 7 years of experience in data governance data quality or data management roles
- Certifications (Preferred): DAMA CDMP or equivalent.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in Data Governance policy and framework analysis
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA DMBOK)
- Preferred Skills:
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for driving data governance initiatives across the organization.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) and hybrid data environments.
