Our Programme Advisory team is led by experts in the setup transition and transformation of major programmes and organisations both in the UK and globally with a market leading client base across the public and private sectors. We provide diverse advisory services to our clients including Commercial and Procurement Advisory Strategy Transformation and Change Organisation Design & Effectiveness Major Programme Setup Business Case & Funding Regulatory Advisory and Controls & Performance.
Commercial Advisory in Defence
Defence is the fastest growing division within Turner & Townsend having recently been established as a distinct business unit. We are a relatively new supplier into the sector but are already established as a Key Supplier into MOD as a top 5 (by revenue) professional services supplier. We have one of the most comprehensive routes to market into Defence by being a key partner or prime into 3 of the MODs largest delivery and transformation partnership arrangements. This includes both of the MODs Commercial Delivery Partnerships and with recent wins in other strategic Commercial and Procurement partnerships. We are now involved with some of the highest profile consultancy engagements in the sector and our building reputation has created an enviable demand. We now need to expand our senior leadership group within the Programme Advisory division to lead our continued growth of Commercial and Procurement Advisory services into the sector. This will see the successful candidate working with the most senior leaders in MOD Commercial shaping and driving high profile engagements to transform Commercial performance.
Position Overview
We are seeking a transformative Commercial and Procurement Advisory leader to drive the growth of our Commercial Advisory business in the Defence sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in shaping and delivering Commercial improvements and business change. This requires exceptional leadership skills strategic thinking and a thorough understanding of MOD commercial and the stakeholders within. The successful candidate will be a member of the Turner & Townsend Defence & Security UK Leadership Team and the Programme Advisory UK Senior Leadership Team. This means the candidate will be a key influence on Turner & Townsends strategic direction into the sector overall with a focus on our Commercial and Procurement Advisory proposition.
To be be considered for this role you will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance. Please note that you must be a sole British Citizen to apply and based in the UK.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be identifying and securing opportunities within our existing and targeted client base leading in the sales and delivery of Commercial Advisory work in this targeted sector. The role will be a National UK role with the expectation to meet clients nationally. Success in this role will require demonstrable experience and network with the MOD in delivering transformative Commercial outcomes at organisational and programme level aiming to innovate the Departments Commercial practice.
Lead on brand enhancement market development and continual proposition development in the sector to maintain a relevant and valuable service offer
Develop and implement strategic plans to grow Commercial Advisory based on sound knowledge of the sector
Lead on shaping and converting major opportunities with MOD clients and guide/oversee others developing Commercial Advisory opportunities
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients industry partners and internal teams maintaining a one business ethos
Drive and oversee proposition and bidding activity working with others to develop compelling offers for our clients
Build the best team so that they can be the best in the market. Use strong technical leadership expertise to shape our teams capabilities and knowledge and nurture our talent. Our growth may also include identifying potential acquisitions. Effectively manage risks and maximize commercial returns applying business acumen.
Qualifications :
Significant previous experience in consultancy sales and delivery within the Defence sector where you have developed skills in client handling relationship management sales solution / proposition development and consulting project leadership / delivery.
Expertise in aspects of Commercial innovation transformation and delivery with a track record of shaping and delivering complex procurements.
Supply chain strategy and management capability.
Strategy and transformational change experience.
Effective communication and relationship building skills able to work and thrive in a multi stakeholder environment.
A natural gravitas in dealings with clients with a making the difference approach.
Proven experience in preparing defining and delivering bid proposals.
