Job Description

DEPUTY GENERAL MANAGER POSITION

Reporting to the General Manager the Deputy General Manager is responsible to give support to the overall direction coordination implementation execution control and completion of all plants activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement preventive predictive and corrective maintenance schedules for all plant equipment including gas turbines compressors gas generators gas compressor cooling tower and auxiliary systems. (Shape the continuous improvement strategy in collaboration with other managers while aligning with the international standards.)
  • Plan and coordinate with REG major overhauls shutdowns and inspections that affects plant availability
  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers technicians and support staff. (To ensure the execution of the collective approach to equipment maintenance plan toward the perfect operation and availability of the plant)
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Promote a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure maximum plant availability and reliability by minimizing downtime and responding promptly to equipment failures.
  • Implement maintenance best practices and modern techniques to optimize plant performance.
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget ensuring costeffective use of resources.
  • Monitor and control maintenance expenses while maintaining highquality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety health and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain safety and compliance standards.
  • Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Coordinate with external vendors contractors and OEMs for procurement of spares services and maintenance support.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities equipment history and performance data.

With the use of Data measurements system support operation and maintenance Planning to set the direction of the improvement process and reduce/eradicate losses.

  • Prepare periodic maintenance reports and present them to senior management.

Academic / Professional Qualifications

  • A Bachelor s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or its equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Candidate must be willing to work in Rubavu.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 810 Years experience in Infrastructure Industry.

Skills & Competencies

  • Well conversant with the Energy Sector in Rwanda Engineering Standards and regulations.
  • Good knowledge of power plant processes Knowledge of Governor control Turbine/Engine control systems Fire and Gas Detection system communication systems and integration of different control systems.
  • Preventive predictive and corrective maintenance strategies
  • Well conversant with safety requirements for execution of jobs permit system.
  • Very good analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office. Creativity and an ability to think out of the box.
