We are hiring an Environmental Program Analyst for one of our clients in Trenton NJ.
Job Description:
The Client is looking for someone who has a strong science background and is interested in water so they are knowledgeable with departments regulations and can apply them.
Stormwater Complaints:
- The Division of Water Enforcement needs hourly/temporary employees to help manage the high volume of NJPDES stormwater complaints.
Safe Drinking Water Assistance:
- Update the SDW Penalty Guidance document (last updated in 2018) with all SDWIS codes and brief descriptions of what the codes represent especially when a code is used for multiple violation situations.
- Provide a description of how to determine if compliance has been met to ensure the proper CMSS referral type can be made (e.g. requesting an AONOCAPA SAP etc.).
General Tracking of Submittals:
- The 5G2 Stormwater General Permit requires quarterly submittals. An hourly/temp employee could follow up on these submittals on behalf of the inspection team and assist the permitting program in ensuring these documents are inputted into NJEMS and marked complete.
Agricultural Certification/Registration:
- Potential water diversions from agricultural entities especially in the southern part of the state are significant and could become an issue during drought. An hourly/temp employee could review each Agricultural Certification/Registration to determine if they are in compliance in NJEMS (e.g. have a current unexpired permit have submitted all quarterly or annual diversion reports etc.).
- They could also research those out of compliance to determine if they are still in operation or if they have been sold and developed.
Additional Duties:
- Conduct outreach to NJPDES permittees who have failed to submit a permit renewal application based on reports submitted to DWE from DWQ.
- Track permittee compliance and draft NOVs for failure to comply timely after outreach.
- Draft CMSS referrals if appropriate.
- Run Serious/SNC lists for NJPDES permittees evaluate if violations trigger MMR and update inspectors on Serious/SNC violations for assigned facilities.
Skills required:
- Strong communication organizational skills and knowledge of environmental principles practices laws and regulations related to water.
Desired Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite as well as data management.
Work Hours:
- 9:00 am 5:00pm
- Lunch period: 1 hour (unpaid)
