Job Title: Senior Bookkeeper

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper/ Accountant to join the team. You will be responsible for managing financial records preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with Australian taxation laws and regulations. Attention to detail strong organizational skills and a deep understanding of Australian accounting standards are essential for success in this role.


Job Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and uptodate financial records for the organization.

  • Record financial transactions including purchases sales receipts and payments using accounting software.

  • Prepare and process journal entries adjustments and accruals.

  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.

  • AR tasks including onboarding new client doing credit checks sending weekly statements and follow up on overdue invoice.

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements including profit and loss statements balance sheets and cash flow statements.

  • AR tasks including onboarding new client doing credit checks sending weekly statements and follow up on overdue invoice.

  • Generate regular financial reports for management providing insights into the companys financial performance.

  • Collaborate with external accountants for annual tax return preparation.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian taxation laws and regulations.

  • Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and other relevant tax filings.

  • Stay updated on changes in Australian tax laws and implement necessary adjustments.

  • Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner ensuring compliance with Australian payroll regulations Experience with Employment Hero software will be highly desirable.

  • Calculate and process superannuation contributions and handle payroll tax obligations.

  • Streamline and enhance financial processes to improve efficiency.

  • Provide support and guidance to junior team members.




Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting preferably in an Australian context.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero.
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and taxation laws.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.



Minimum of 5 years Australian accounting and taxation experience Xero / MYOB Certified Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, and trusts Experience working with Australian SMEs Competent with computer operations as well as some specific applications, such as Xero, MYOB, Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook. Experience with relevant computer systems The person must be keen to learn and develop their computer competencies Particularly good in verbal and written English communication skills
