Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to Join our friendly team at the Waihi Minerals Laboratory
What you will be doing:
- Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of results.
- Efficiently and accurately prepare and analyse all main laboratory samples (geochem & environmental).
- Day to day focus on the efficient running of the Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) and ICPMS instruments
- Assist with maintaining the quality system in the laboratory
- Work with the Senior Laboratory team to ensure reporting deadlines are met e.g. Daily OGL production samples BT production samples and compliance environmental samples.
- Issue and/or check reports as they become available.
- Ensure all activities are carried out with regard and recognition of Health and Safety requirements and personal safety
- Undertake all other relevant work requests relevant to your position
Qualifications :
- Previous experience working as a Laboratory Technician or in a similar technical role ideally within the testing or analytical services industry.
- Flexibility is key. You will work 4 shifts of 12 hours on a rotating roster this will include weekends.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and analyse data
- Competent in the use of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Excellent problemsolving and critical thinking skills
- A commitment to working safely and following quality control procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
