Job Description

This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file trade mark applications renewals assignments and amendments with the Bahamas Intellectual Property Office (BIPO).
  • Monitor trade mark deadlines and ensure timely filings and renewals.
  • Maintain accurate trade mark records and databases tracking all applications and registrations.
  • Liaise with the Registrar General s Department and other relevant authorities on trade markrelated matters.
  • Conduct preliminary trade mark searches and provide basic assessments of availability for registration.
  • Draft standard correspondence related to trade mark filings including acknowledgments notices and reports to clients.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing responses to official actions objections or office requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients regarding necessary documents filing requirements and status updates.
  • Ensure compliance with Bahamian trade mark laws and assist in updating internal policies as needed.
  • Provide administrative support to the Intellectual Property (IP) team including file management and docketing.
Schedule: Monday to Friday 9AM to 1PM


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in trade mark filings intellectual property or a legal support role.
  • Strong organizational and attention to detail skills to manage multiple filings and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook) and legal document management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced legal environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients attorneys and government agencies.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)

  • Prior experience in an IP law firm or corporate legal department handling trade mark matters.
  • Knowledge of trade mark opposition and enforcement procedures in The Bahamas.
  • Experience with trade mark docketing software.
