Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The Agencys required and preferred Consultant Knowledge Skills and Abilities include:

Required Consultant must demonstrate: (Minimum):

  • Bachelors degree and 5 years of experience or a high school diploma/equivalency and ten years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)
  • Demonstrated effective writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze requirements evaluate technical options and assess feasibility.
  • Ability to maintain professional working relationships with customers and staff.
  • Ability to meet priorities and goals.
  • Ability to work independently and in small teams.
  • Attention to detail and consistency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and customer staff.
  • Experience configuring and managing switches routers and firewalls.
  • Experience managing OSPF and BGP routing protocols in a large enterprise environment. 12.Extensive knowledge and experience in migrating SonicWALL NSA firewalls to Palo Alto firewalls.

Preferred Consultant Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with SonicWALL and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • Experience with Migrating Firewalls.
  • Experience with Cisco Juniper Switching and Routing.
  • Experience with Cisco EIGRP.
  • Experience with Juniper routers and switches.
  • Experience with F5 BigIP LTM.
  • Industry certifications from any of the abovementioned manufacturers.

SCOPE OF WORK

Service Delivery

  • Responsible for highlevel network planning design and optimization.
  • Develops strategies and direction for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies (including wireless).
  • Translates business requirements into network or process designs.
  • Plans and recommends network hardware systems management software and architecture.
  • Approves and modifies network design and architecture to ensure compliance.
  • Configures and maintains routers switches and hubs for the network systems (including wireless). Evaluates and recommend new products and maintain knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise.
  • Monitors network performance to ensure capacity planning is performed and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts.
  • May take on the role of Project Leader for special enterprisewide assignments.
  • Defines network architectures and design for the enterprise.
  • Works on multiple projects as a project leader or as the subject matter expert.
  • Works on projects/issues of high complexity that require indepth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.
  • Coaches and mentors more junior technical staff.
  • Reporting for emergency duty is required as part of this position. Emergencies may occur at any time and create varying degrees of damage human suffering injury death and property damage or destruction. In the event of an emergency unless Consultant is granted a temporary exemption from emergency duty Consultant may be required to work before during and/or beyond normal work hours or days to perform emergency duties including but not limited to responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster manmade or natural.

Internal Processes & Support

  • Follows all established team processes and procedures
  • Facilitates product purchases and maintenance renewal efforts
  • Develops documentation for support processes systems and procedures
  • Participates in the change management process
  • Tracks time for Professional Services billing purposes
  • Provides secondlevel technical support assistance to internal and external customers
  • Maintains security confidentiality and availability of systems
  • Monitors Service Desk ticketing system and responds appropriately based on published time expectations
  • Must be available for oncall and/or overtime duties as required
  • Participates in Computer Security and Incident Response Team (CSIRT) and Continuity of Operations (COOP) events where required
  • Develops quality control methods for ensuring platform output meets standards
