Under the supervision and guidance of the Associate Technical Director (ATD) the Care and Treatment Advisor (CTA) will ensure that EGPAF Malawis HIV Care and Treatment interventions are clinically sound evidencebased and aligned with the priorities of Malawis Ministry of Health (MoH) donors and program beneficiaries. While the primary focus of the CTAs work will be HIV care and treatment for all populations particular attention will be paid to paediatric patients ensuring that ageappropriate interventions and strategies are in place for children and adolescents living with HIV.
The CTA will work closely with Senior Clinical Services Managers to provide technical support to the District Managers ensuring rapid implementation of EGPAFs innovations and sustainable results. The role will encompass antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation and adherence differentiated service delivery (DSD) models defaulter tracking retention viral load monitoring and treatment failure management with specialized strategies designed to address the unique needs of paediatric populations.
Essential Duties
Technical Leadership and Oversight
- Lead the development of evidencebased strategies for all HIV patients along the continuum of care with specific strategies for paediatric HIV care.
- Provide technical support in developing strategies to improve HIV care for paediatric patients adolescents youth and adults including ART initiation adherence and retention in collaboration with Senior Clinical Services Managers (SCSMs).
- Lead the development of technical tools SOPs and guidance to support the implementation of highquality evidencebased and innovative HIV care and treatment interventions for all populations with a focus on paediatric patients.
- Ensure the development update and implementation of adherence and defaulter tracingrelated tools and SOPs documenting outcomes to inform programming particularly for paediatric patients.
- Lead the development and design of strategies for improving retention and viral suppression among paediatric patients children adolescents youth and men living with HIV.
- Promote innovative HIV care programming with a focus on paediatric HIV across EGPAFs interventions.
Program Execution and Management
- Serve as the focal point for working with care and treatment subgrantees guiding the development of scope of work budgeting and program implementation of HIV care and treatment programming including paediatric HIV care.
- Support the development of annual quarterly and monthly work plans; monitor and report on progress toward project milestones related to HIV care and treatment with a focus on paediatric populations.
- Provide technical guidance in the implementation of HIV care and treatment services with a focus on paediatric patients across the program.
- Work closely with district teams to ensure evidencebased approaches to differentiated service delivery (DSD) that optimize HIV care strategies for paediatric patients.
- Provide technical assistance training and mentoring to support EGPAFs district teams in paediatric HIV care and treatment services.
- Lead the implementation of clientcentred care with improved information access through EGPAFs call centre.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Work with the ATD to develop systems and strategies for monitoring key programmatic indicators in paediatric HIV care and treatment.
- Track and report on HIV carerelated activities and outcomes at supported sites in collaboration with Senior Clinical Services Managers ensuring adequate progress toward targets particularly in paediatric care.
- Work with the SI&E team to monitor and evaluate facility linkage activities using relevant tools to support implementation and monitor outcomes.
- Support the ATD in evaluating documenting disseminating and scaling up promising practices in paediatric HIV care and treatment interventions.
- Oversee knowledge management related to paediatric HIV care and treatment across the program.
Program Representation and Meetings
- Represent EGPAF in national technical working groups (TWGs) and external meetings related to paediatric HIV care and treatment.
- Increase EGPAFs visibility in local and international forums on paediatric HIV care and treatment.
Qualifications :
- A Medical Degree (e.g. MD MBChB MB SB) or its equivalent or Senior Clinician with Advanced degree
- Masters degree in Public Health
- Clinical Specialty in internal Medicine or Paediatrics will be an added advantage
