- Perform Field Testing of Water samples
- Witness and observe how samples are taken and direct the vessel personnel when necessary
- Receive inspect sort and label client samples
- Deliver and ship samples to the Laboratory
- Observe sampling of other commodities following established protocols
- Sort crush pulverize split and screen samples as required
- Archive return or dispose of client samples as per work sheet instructions
- Log client samples into the system and prepare sample labels
- Conduct basic testing and basic measurements in the field
- Work from sketches detailed specifications and verbal instructions
- Calibration and set up of equipment prior to analysis
- Maintain and record equipment calibrations
- Carries out routine equipment maintenance under the direction of his/her supervisor
- Interpret and evaluate all results
- Compiles data analyses and prepares reports
- May be asked to work in other SGS areas when needed
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- PostSecondary Education (degree or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry) is a strong asset.
- 1 3 years experience in a related industry a strong asset but not required
- Good hand eye coordination when handling samples and various equipment
- Must have a valid drivers License (Class 5 Minimum) or equivalent from another province.
- Must be comfortable with occasional travel and a flexible schedule.
- Must be comfortable with working outdoors.
- Candidate must have the ability to use various types of computer software (word excel etc.)
- Demonstrates good verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work well with others and independently.
- Works well under pressure.
- Must be able to read understand and follow work instructions in a safe accurate and timely manner.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fastpaced highly professional environment.
- Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
