Associate Medical Director
The Associate Medical Director (AMD) supports the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in overseeing the quality of clinical programs and care provided at the clinic. This role is responsible for supervising clinical staff and ensuring high standards of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners at all sites including providing performance feedback peer review evaluation and continuous performance monitoring.
- Manage provider panels schedules and coverage for vacations and absences.
- Promote and support patient care teams and the PatientCentered Medical Home model.
- Foster open communication with staff clinicians encouraging the sharing of ideas and concerns with management.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels anticipate staffing changes and coordinate resources during shortages.
- Assign workloads establish work schedules and develop policies to ensure timely task completion.
- Conduct yearly appraisals to support professional growth and development of direct reports.
- Document disciplinary actions and counseling sessions in consultation with Human Resources ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with employees to develop skills and support professional growth.
- Complete patient progress notes review diagnostic test results and respond to clinical needs promptly.
- Provide direct patient care and precept medical students/residents.
- Collaborate with the CMO to develop and review clinical care protocols and chronic disease management guidelines.
- Act as a resource for resolving patient and family concerns.
- Exhibit courtesy and respect to patients families and healthcare team members through teamwork and accountability.
- Maintain knowledge of key payer programs including CHDP HWLA Managed Care FPACT and CDP.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies contractual obligations and funding requirements.
- Assist the CMO in peer review and quality assurance activities.
- Support the development review and revision of clinical protocols policies and procedures.
- Review monthly variance reports to evaluate and address spending variances in clinical areas such as medical supplies and laboratory expenditures.
Position Requirements:
- 35 years of clinical experience with CHDP HWLA Managed Care FPACT CDP and similar programs preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint); experience with electronic health record (EHR) implementation preferred.
- Clinical experience in a community health center preferred.
- Proven ability to build collaborative working relationships across all agency levels and with external contacts.
- Familiarity with OCHIN EPIC is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong analytical critical thinking problemsolving and teamwork skills.
- Valid current unencumbered California Medical License (MD or DO).
- Valid California driver’s license and car insurance.
- At least one year of leadership experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish Russian Armenian Tagalog) are preferred.
- Covid19 vaccination required as per state law (medical and religious exemptions may apply).
