Roles and responsibilities

1. System Design and Architecture

• Network Design: Design and configure networks, ensuring they meet the needs of the organization. This includes local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and wireless communication systems.
• Infrastructure Planning: Develop and implement plans for data center architecture, servers, storage, and other essential IT infrastructure.
• Integration: Integrate various communication systems, ensuring that hardware, software, and network solutions function harmoniously.
• Scalability: Design systems that can scale with the organization’s growth, ensuring future expansions and technology upgrades are possible without major disruptions.

2. Implementation and Configuration

• Installation of Hardware and Software: Install and configure servers, routers, firewalls, switches, and other ICT hardware. Additionally, configure software systems, including operating systems and communication tools.
• System Configuration: Set up and configure telecommunications equipment (e.g., PBX systems, VOIP), email servers, and enterprise collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Slack).
• Cloud Integration: Implement cloud-based solutions (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) for data storage, computing, and application hosting, ensuring smooth transitions from on-premise solutions when needed.
• Custom Solutions: Customize and configure software applications to align with organizational needs, ensuring compatibility with the network and systems infrastructure.

3. Network and Systems Maintenance

• Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot network and communication systems to identify and resolve any connectivity or hardware failures promptly.
• Routine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as updating firmware, software patches, security protocols, and performing system backups.
• Security Monitoring: Monitor network security to detect and prevent potential breaches or attacks. Implement firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems to safeguard the organization’s data.
• Capacity Planning: Continuously assess the performance of networks and systems, recommending hardware or software upgrades and improvements to meet growing needs.

Desired candidate profile

Technical Support and Training
User Support: Provide technical support to end-users by helping them troubleshoot issues with hardware, software, or communication tools.
Documentation: Maintain documentation for system configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting processes to ensure quick resolution of future issues.
Training: Train employees on the proper use of ICT tools, software applications, and security protocols. Conduct workshops or create instructional materials to improve technology adoption.
Helpdesk Support: Oversee or manage helpdesk teams, ensuring that issues are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
Cybersecurity Management
Security Protocols: Design and implement security policies to protect the organization’s information and communication systems from cyber threats.
Data Protection: Ensure that all systems comply with data protection regulations, including secure data storage and transmission methods, and implement encryption as needed.
Incident Response: Respond to and investigate security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities, implementing corrective measures to strengthen security.
Firewalls and VPNs: Configure and maintain firewalls, virtual private networks (VPNs), and other security tools to protect both internal and remote users.
Project Management
Technology Projects: Lead or contribute to ICT-related projects, such as system upgrades, network expansions, or technology rollouts, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party vendors for hardware, software, and telecommunications services, ensuring that service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Budget Management: Work with management to create budgets for IT infrastructure and technology needs, helping to allocate resources for purchasing hardware, software, and services.
