We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our clients innovative team. A leading network of community development financial institutions (CDFIs) empowers underserved communities by expanding access to capital and financial services. They drive economic justice through training advocacy and support for initiatives that promote sustainable growth and social impact. In this role you will support the daytoday financial operations by managing accounting activities ensuring data accuracy and contributing to financial reporting. You will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain compliance and support the organizations financial goals.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
Reconcile bank statements and financial records to maintain uptodate accounting data.
Process invoices expense reports and payroll transactions accurately.
Prepare journal entries and assist in maintaining the general ledger.
Support monthend and yearend closing activities ensuring deadlines are met.
Assist in preparing financial reports statements and analysis for management.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies procedures and regulations.
Assist with audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Monitor and enforce internal controls to protect the organizations financial integrity.
Work closely with other departments to resolve financial discrepancies and provide accounting support.
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes for greater efficiency.
Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance.
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
Relevant certifications (e.g. Certified Bookkeeper) are a plus.
Proven years of experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on accounts payable and receivable.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Experience with reconciliations journal entries and financial reporting.
Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problemsolving abilities.
Effective communication skills to work with teams and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
