Job Description
Are you ready to lead transformative engineering initiatives and help small business growth across Africa As Principal Engineer youll play a role in driving high performance within our cliente engineering team while helping to shape the future of their worldclass product. This position requires both handson technical expertise and the ability to inspire and guide a team to success.
You will lead architectural improvements project planning DevOps and engineering processes creating pathways for scalable growth and innovation.
Your responsibilities
Lead the team to technical excellence
- You will projectmanage initiatives like addressing technical debt handling large epics and implementing process improvements.
- You will validate and refine technical designs and architectural changes proposed by the team to ensure costeffective pragmatic solutions.
- You will lead a Continual Improvement process tracking metrics and driving productivity enhancements.
Bridge development and operations
- You will oversee our endtoend SDLC ensuring efficiency and adherence to best practices.
- You will manage GitHub repositories actions workflows and the teams branching strategy.
- You will lead incident management for outages or infrastructure issues.
Maintain and enhance our AWS estate
- You will manage EC2 instances Linux OS configurations databases Kubernetes clusters and cloud networking components.
- You will ensure cost efficiency through robust cost control measures.
- You will develop and oversee backup schemes CloudWatch logs metrics and alerts.
Foster team growth and engagement
- You will lead recruitment processes for technical personnel.
- You will conduct regular 1on1s performance reviews and professional development planning.
- You will ensure the team remains happy motivated and aligned with organizational goals.

To be considered for this role you should have
- A strong engineering degree and at least 10 years of professional experience in technology leadership.
- 3 years leading teams to develop highquality software ( Java and Spring Boot).
- 5 years of handson experience managing AWS and Kubernetes estates.
- Expertise in Agile development processes including Scrum and Kanban.
- Substantial experience managing GitHub repositories and creating/maintaining GitHub workflows.
