A Civil Construction Company in Paarl seeks a Civil Site Technician / Foreman / Supervisor
Qualifications
- Passed Grade 12 / NQF4 or a relevant tertiary qualification (beneficial).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years as a Production Manager/General Foreman on civil projects.
Key Requirements
- Proven track record in managing construction teams (pipelines earthworks roads concrete works).
- Knowledge of construction methods (SANS 1200).
- Basic civil survey and settingout skills.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to train and mentor upcoming foremen and laborers.
- Valid drivers license (Code EB or higher).
Responsibilities
1. Planning
- Execute activities according to the weekly plan.
- Communicate program details with teams.
- Monitor progress against targets and report any issues.
2. ManManagement
- Ensure labor induction is carried out as per policy.
- Allocate teams according to the weekly plan.
- Evaluate personnel and ensure correct construction methods are used.
- Ensure team leaders and operators receive all necessary information from the surveyor before starting.
- Maintain discipline within teams and ensure adherence to working hours.
- Check that watchmen are on duty.
3. Plant Management
- Monitor the correct use of small plants and tools.
- Ensure proper application of plant and implements.
- Report downtime and mechanical problems.
- Ensure daily refueling of plant.
- Plan for and clean plant according to the schedule.
4. Material Management
- Plan material requirements based on the weekly plan.
- Report shortfalls in a timely manner.
- Manage the receiving storage and loss control of materials.
- Report exceptions to the General Foreman/Site Agent.
- Maintain housekeeping of designated areas.
- Check the quality of delivered materials.
- Use materials according to prescriptions.
5. Cost Management
- Complete daily costing sheets and report results.
- Allocate correct cost codes for fuel and labor.
- Plan and manage teams to ensure targets are met.
6. Contractual Management
- Ensure the quality of work meets contractual standards.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Oversee quality control and testing of materials and work.
- Communicate effectively with engineers.
7. Public Relations
- Maintain healthy relationships with engineers and the client.
- Ensure workers conduct aligns with company policies including the use of transport toilet facilities and public amenities.
- Be mindful of public access and any specific requirements of the contract.
