Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Traffic Engineer specializing in traffic signal retiming to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in traffic engineering with a strong background in supporting projects within Georgia and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) regions. The Senior Traffic Engineer will be responsible for reviewing traffic studies and data programming and retiming traffic signals across the Atlantaarea to optimize traffic flow and enhance overall transportation efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Traffic Signal Retiming: Lead the development implementation and optimization of traffic signal retiming plans to improve traffic flow reduce congestion and enhance safety at intersections.
- Project Support: Provide technical expertise and support for traffic engineering projects within Georgia/GDOT regions including design analysis and coordination with various stakeholders.
- Data Analysis: Review and analyze traffic studies data and performance metrics to identify trends issues and opportunities for improvement in traffic signal operations.
- Programming and Coordination: Program traffic signal controllers including the setup and adjustment of timing plans. Coordinate with local jurisdictions and other agencies to ensure effective signal operations.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on traffic signal performance project status and recommendations for improvements. Communicate findings and strategies to clients stakeholders and team members.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all traffic signal operations and projects comply with local state and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers planners and transportation professionals to integrate traffic signal retiming with broader transportation planning and engineering efforts.
- ProblemSolving: Address and resolve issues related to traffic signal performance and system malfunctions promptly and effectively.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and staff sharing expertise and best practices in traffic engineering and signal retiming.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Traffic Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in traffic engineering with a focus on traffic signal retiming including extensive experience within Georgia and GDOT regions. Proven track record of successful project management and signal optimization.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Additional certifications such as Traffic Signal Technician (TST) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) are advantageous.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in traffic signal software and hardware including Synchro SimTraffic and traffic signal controllers.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients stakeholders and team members.
- Indepth knowledge of traffic engineering principles practices and regulations relevant to Georgia and the GDOT.
