Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Officer to join their team in Carnarvon Northern Cape. The successful candidate will act on behalf of the employer reporting to the Project Manager and will monitor the environmental performance and its subcontractors on the set management systems. You will produce data and report on performance against set standards ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement standard operating procedures for Environmental Management on the project.
Oversee the implementation of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Assist in the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System focusing on environmental aspects.
Develop implement and maintain the Environmental Management Programme for the EOC project.
Conduct environmental audits at the construction site and propose mitigation measures to address findings.
Monitor environmental performance on the set management systems produce data and report on performance.
Develop and communicate action plans to improve environmental performance.
Oversee and monitor Environmental Impact Assessments.
Implement project site environmental management and monitoring programmes during decommissioning construction commissioning and site handover phases.
Ensure the development of site compliance reporting.
Perform oversight of contractors and consultants providing environmental services.
Assess and report on ways to manage and reduce environmental risks and liabilities.
Train and transfer skills to junior staff and graduates in training.
Interface with the Environmental Officers to ensure the project meets regulatory environmental health and safety requirements
Requirements
BTech Degree in Environmental Sciences/Management or Diploma in Environmental Sciences/Management.
Active registration with EAPASA (Environmental Assessment Practitioner Association of South Africa).
3 or more years of experience drafting environmental management plans method statements and conducting environmental inspections/audits.
B-Tech Degree in Environmental Sciences/Management or Diploma in Environmental Sciences/Management. Active registration with EAPASA (Environmental Assessment Practitioner Association of South Africa). 3 or more years of experience drafting environmental management plans, method statements, and conducting environmental inspections/audits.
