Technical Buying Officer

This role reports into the Commercial Services Department

To meet the purchasing needs of the Company with specific focus on the technical requirements.

Your role will:

• Financial Effectiveness
  • Participate in cost saving initiatives and adhere to financial procedures.

• Operational Excellence
  • Interpret mechanical and technical drawings to ensure correct purchasing of equipment.
  • Manage and expedite the delivery of goods and services including confirming receipt of purchase orders with vendors expediting predelivery and overdue purchase orders monitoring the progress of purchase orders closely and addressing potential delays before they impact the delivery timelines.

• Internal Business Processes
  • Ensure adherence to good corporate governance effective purchasing processes supplier development and relationship management in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage vendor onboarding process for respective area of influence.

• Safey Health Security and Environmental Effectiveness
  • Adhere to and promote applicable legislation company safety security and environmental policies procedures goals and objectives.

• Customer and Stakeholders
  • Execute duties within the role visibly portraying the Company values whilst building sound relationships with colleagues clients and all other stakeholders

Qualifications :

Formal qualifications:

• National Diploma or Degree in Purchasing/Supply Chain/Engineering
• Member of accredited body CIPS (would be an advantage)
• Engineering trade qualification would be advantageous

Additional requirements:

• 5 years experience in technical purchasing in an engineering / technical environment
• SAP MM ERP system is a requirement
• Contract Management and Supplier engagement experience
• Ability to utilize latest technology (Microsoft packages/ EB/ Windchill)
• Exposure to BBBEE requirements
• Customs and logistics experience advantageous
